Learn more about the new trends of the space sector and its current dynamics as well as the new business developments and the various applications of space technologies on Earth. Find out more about the services provided by “Copernicus”, ESA’s system for Earth observation and the importance of new services using satellite data.

About the lecturer

Jose Achache

Dr. Jose Achache is Managing Director at AP-Swiss, the ESA Ambassador Platform for Satcoms and Integrated Applications with the Swiss industry, which fosters the development and validation of viable operational services relying on a combination of space systems. He was Executive Director of the Group on Earth Observations at ESA from 2005 until 2012.

About “Space For Bulgaria” project:

Space4BG is developed by Association Tsiolkovsky in cooperation with European Space Agency. It aims to increase the awareness about space technologies and applications of European Space Agency (ESA) as well as to bring basic space science and technology knowledge to the region.

Dr. Jose Achache President of ALTYN and Managing Director of AP - Swiss

Jose Achache is President of ALTYN and Managing Director of AP-Swiss, a joint undertaking of ESA, the European Space Agency, and the Swiss Space Office. He was the Secretariat Director of Global Earth Observation System of Systems from 2005 to 2012. Achache was the first to serve in the position, having taken the post in 2005, when the Group on Earth Observations was established. After 15 years of research in Geophysics, and 15 years of executive management in French and international R&D and space agencies (BRGM, CNES, ESA, GEO), José Achache is now involved in the development of applications and services relying on satellites.
